Nametag Barcode Scanning System
Posted in Education SupportGoal:
Our customer, a leading manufacturer of medical equipment, conducts 80-100 in-depth classes each year to train medical personnel on the proper use of sophisticated diagnostic devices. They needed a better way to track attendance and class completion in order to provide required reports to medical licensing agencies.
Unique Challenges:
Class attendees sometimes do not stay until the end of the class. After a large class, it can be difficult to determine who completed the entire session. The training coordinators are very busy with multiple responsibilities during their classes, so any tracking system must require only a minimal amount of time to operate. The system must not slow down the check-in or check-out process for large classes.
Solution:
DataWorks developed a nametag barcode scanning system to record each class attendee’s check-in and check-out times. The system has two scanners, allowing two training coordinators to scan nametags during especially busy periods. After each class, the system transfers the attendance data to DataWorks, links it to the registration database we developed, and sends reports to the appropriate medical licensing agencies.
Results:
The system DataWorks developed allows our customer to:
- Give training coordinators a quick and easy way to collect attendance information
- Provide reliable reports to medical licensing agencies to comply with professional education credit requirements
- Use historical attendance data from the database to project future class locations or topics
